Principles for Responsible Investment

In March 2018, JIS became a signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment being promoted by the United Nations.

JIS established environmental, social, and governance guidelines, has incorporated them in its investment decision-making and monitoring process as a means to ensure responsible investing, and has contributed to sustainable corporate value creation.

In accordance with the Paris Agreement, various organizations including governments and companies have been accelerating initiatives toward a carbon-neutral society; recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) promote the disclosure of climate-related information. JIS supports the spirit of the Paris Agreement and accepts the TCFD recommendations.

Recognizing risks and opportunities related to ESGs including climate change, JIS is committed to considering and promoting appropriate measures and fulfilling its obligations to all relevant stakeholders.

ReferenceThe six Principles for Responsible Investment are listed as follows.

  • Principle 1: We will incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes.
  • Principle 2: We will be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices.
  • Principle 3: We will seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest.
  • Principle 4: We will promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry.
  • Principle 5: We will work together to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the Principles.
  • Principle 6: We will each report on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles.
